What’s this, you ask? A blog post on a Tuesday? That’s because… It’s officially my blog’s first birthday!
Yes, I have finally reached that first real milestone in a blogger’s career. I can’t believe I’ve been doing it this long. And this is why I didn’t make a bigger deal of something that happened last week – my 100th blog post – because I thought as the dates were so close together I’d just combine it into one celebratory post.
So way back when, on 15th November 2015, just after I turned eighteen, I decided it was time to try again – because this isn’t actually my first blog; the other has been deleted for quite some time now. And this time I decided to dedicate myself, then and there, to the challenge of writing something and uploading it twice a week. It wasn’t for anyone else to read, particularly, but just to keep me writing.
Maybe it was the fact I’d made such a conscious decision, or maybe it was just the right time in my life to start doing so, but I found it actually quite easy to slip into the routine of uploading twice a week. I felt like it was a challenge I could complete, and doing it every week gave me a sense of accomplishment – it was a small thing, but it kept me thinking, kept me focused, and (to be totally honest) helped keep me sane.
One thing I do want to say here, though, is a thank you to the people who have read my blog, liked my posts, followed me along – it means a lot. It always brings a smile to my face when I see there are people out there who do that.
I guess the next thing I should say is – where next? I fully plan on continuing my blog. It got me through sixth form and I think I’ll enjoy taking it with me through my degree. Honestly, I think I’d feel rather odd if I didn’t have it anymore. At the moment it’s like my quiet little sanctity that’s all my own, all 102 posts of it. I have a lot of things I want to post here, and a lot of things I want to improve about my actual blog as a whole (I swear, there will be posts in categories other than ‘general’ soon enough – just need to find ten minutes to plan them!), and I feel quite attached to my little corner of the internet.
For now, that’s all I’m going to say. I’m still planning on uploading tomorrow, too, because I’m just feeling that dedicated… I just wanted to actually acknowledge this little milestone on the day it happened. So thanks for being here, thanks for reading, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
